Nearly 16 million people are unemployed in 16 countries that uses Euro : EU statistics agency

Unemployment in the Euro zone remained at a record rate of 10 per cent for a fifth month in a row in August. The EU's statistics agency Eurostat said, nearly 16 million people remain unemployed in the 16 countries that use the euro. Although overall unemployment for the eurozone remained flat, the picture differed from country to country. Eurostat said Germany, Austria and Malta recorded falls in the unemployment rates. The German unemployment rate fell from 7.6 per cent to 6.9 per cent. Austria and the Netherlands registered the lowest rates of unemployment, at 3.8 per cet and 4.4 per cent respectively. Spain still has the highest rate of unemployment at 20.3 per cent.
