In Karnataka, six people are arrested and a few others detained by police for intimidating and sending threatning text messages to people from north east region. Mr.R Ashoka, the Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Home refused to divulge the names of those arrested and said enquiry is on to know whether others are involved. Mr. Ashoka and law minister Suresh Kumar accompanied the Assamese ministers who have arrived in Bangalore, to City Railway station to appeal to the passengers from north east to stay back.
Mr.Chandan Brahma, the Transport minister in Assam urged them not to give credence to rumours. Meanwhile six complaints were lodged by North East people in the Police station saying that they were threatened to go back. To instill confidence among them, Six Companies of Rapid Action Force will hold flag march in sensitive areas. The Members of Muslim community and North East have resolved to work together to overcome fear.
In a joint Press Conference of both the communities, the members decided to celebrated EID festival together. They felt that it is not a communal issue but a conspiracy by some vested interests to create unrest. They demanded that the Government should apprehend the culprits to instill confidence in people.
