NE citizens exodus from south has stopped: MoS Home

The Lok Sabha was informed today that the situation following the exodus of North-East citizens from the Southern States is under control. The Centre is closely monitoring the situation. In a written reply, Minister of State for Home, Mullappally Ramachandran said, the governments of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra and other States and Union Territories were requested to reach out to the people from the North-East living in their jurisdiction and reassure them of security. The concerned States deployed adequate security forces and established pickets in areas inhabited by the citizens from the North-East. Help lines were set up to reassure them of prompt
response from the concerned state governments. As a result, the exodus stopped, the Minister said.
