The National Disaster Management Authority has released guidelines for management of Urban Flooding. The guidelines was released by the Vice Chairman of the Authority N.C. Vij on Monday. The highlights of the guidelines are use of science and technology for improved monitoring and forecasting of weather besides decision support systems. It also calls for setting up of mechanism at the national level for continuous guidance and support to the states and local level initiatives to build an established and integrated urban flood disaster management framework. The guidelines also stressed to set up state level nodal departments for the purpose.
