NDMA allays fears over safety of Indian nuclear power plants

Allaying fears, the National Disaster Management Authority NDMA, has said that foolproof measures are being taken to ensure safety at nuclear power plants. This include conducting mock drills as well.

Talking to reporters in New Delhi, NDMA Vice-Chairman Shashidar Reddy said additional steps are being taken to deal with any situation that may arise in case of an earthquake. He added that the list of seismically vulnerable places is being constantly revised. Replying to a question on Koondankulam nuclear plant he said that Atomic Energy Regulatory Board has expressed satisfaction following a review of the safety measures at the site after the Fukushima disaster in Japan.
