In Assam, the banned outfit, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Ranjan Daimary faction) has submitted cadre lists to the government in a gesture to bring peace in the state. State I G P Law and Order, S N Singh said that the outfit has submitted a list of 510 cadres. They will also submit lists of weapons within a day or two. Mr. Singh said that the police is verifying the cadre lists and all cadres will be given photo identity cards. He said, designated camps will be set up in Udalguri, Chirnag and Baska for cadres and leaders of the outfit. If everything goes according to plan, the Suspension of Operation treaty will be signed by 30th of this month.
The Centre and Assam government yesterday decided to extend the ceasefire agreement by another 3 months beginning October, with the Progressive faction of the outfit. The Home Ministry has already instructed security forces to intensify operations against the Sangbijit faction of the banned outfit.
