NDA meets in New Delhi today to finalise Vice Presidential candidate

The National Democratic Alliance, NDA partners will meet today to discuss its candidate for the Vice Presidential poll. BJP General Secretary Ananth Kumar said that the party has decided to field its candidate in the election.

After a BJP Core Group meeting in New Delhi on Saturday, he said that the NDA will announce its candidate after due deliberations and consultations with its allies.

The ruling UPA on Saturday nominated Vice President Mohd. Hamid Ansari for the second term. Union Agriculture Minister and NCP Chief Sharad Pawar, LJP Chief Ram Vilas Paswan and BSP supremo Mayawati have also announced their support to Hamid Ansari's candidature.

The last day for filing of nominations for the Vice Presidentship is the 20th of this month. Voting is to be held on the 7th of next month.
