NDA held govt responsible for 15th day stalemate in Parliament

The NDA has held government responsible for the 15-day stalemate in Parliament over its demand for a JPC probe into the 2G spectrum issue. It also threatened to launch country-wide rallies if the government did not concede its demand saying that nothing sort of JPC probe can bring the guilty to book. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, NDA working chairman, L K Advani alleged that the government is not serious for curbing corruption in the society. He said, the entire opposition is one on the JPC demand. Mr Advani asked the opposition parties which wanted the welfare of the people and corruption-free society, to join the protest rallies. In this context, Mr Advani also reminded the promise made by the Prime Minister to bring back the Indian money stashed in foreign banks and disclose the names of those who transferred money to those banks. He said the government has failed to keep its promise. The Senior BJP leader also appealed to the government to concede the opposition demand. He said if the government agreed to do so, the opposition is ready to extend its cooperation in the smooth running of both the houses. Asked to comment the observations of his party colleague and the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Dr Murli Manohar Joshi, that PAC is better equipped than JPC to deal with probe into 2G spectrum issue, Mr. Advani said that Mr Joshi has been misquoted. Replying to a question on Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Mr Advani said that his party is dealing with it.
