Union Minister for Defence Nirmala Sitharaman has assured the jawans that she will closely monitor ministry and will be available round the clock to address their grievances. She was in Kasauli in Himachal Pradesh for the felicitation and Open Defecation Free certification of cantonment boards of western command.<br/><br/>The Defence minister said that the NDA government is a responsive one and it will quickly address the problems and concerns of not only the soldiers but also of their families, letting them concentrate on keeping the borders safe.<br/><br/>After felicitation and ODF certification of 8 cantonments 5 from Himachal Pradesh namely Sabathu, Kasauli , Dagshai, Dalhousie, jatogh and three from Punjab ( Firozpur, Jalandhar and Amritsar) she said that Swachchta Abhiyan was much needed programme for the country. She said that we are still struggling to have clean surroundings and it is high time we all contribute and make this Abhiyan a success. <br/> <br/>The Defence Minister said that Rs 50 crores have been given to defence organisations for the swachchta programmes. With today's felicitation function now 8 out of 13 cantonments under western command have been declared ODF and rest of the 5 will be declared ODF soon.
