NDA govt has taken unprecedented steps to combat corruption: PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the NDA government has taken unprecedented steps to combat corruption in the country.<br/><br/>He attacked the opposition saying those who were earlier looting the nation are not enthused by his government.<br/><br/>Speaking at a gala event 'Ek Nayi Subha' at historic India Gate in New Delhi last night, to mark the two years of the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre, Mr Modi said on the one hand there is agenda of development, on other, there is agenda of obstructionism and the people are capable of finding the truth.<br/><br/>The Prime Minister said the Centre has found over a crore and sixty two lakhs fake ration cards, which has resulted in saving over Rs. 36000 crore leakages from the Government exchequer.<br/><br/>Mr Modi said in the last 15 days, the government work is being very carefully analysed, however, it must be evaluated against the work of previous regimes.<br/><br/>He said in a democracy, it is vital to analyse everyone's work but one can't make a mistake of creating a false atmosphere of despondency.<br/><br/>Saying the poor must get the fruits of development, Mr Modi said during next three years, five crore LPG connections will be provided to poor.<br/><br/>He said for good governance it is imperative for the government to trust its citizens.<br/><br/>Thanking the people of country for placing their faith in the BJP led NDA government, Mr Modi said Coal mine auctions have been done in transparent manner.<br/><br/>Highlighting the achievements of his government, he said the government has abolished the process of interview in Group C and D posts.<br/><br/>Earlier, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and many of his ministerial colleagues spoke about numerous steps taken by the government for development of the country during last two years. <br/><br/>Mr Jaitley said, the Indian economy can grow at the rate of 8-9 percent in the years to come.<br/><br/>He also said the government is making all-out efforts to unearth black money stashed in offshore accounts.<br/><br/>Union Minister for Roads, Transport, Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari said the Modi government has changed the style of governance and ended policy paralysis that existed during the previous UPA regime.<br/><br/>He assured that the BJP led government is working with much tenacity for better road connectivity in the Northeastern region.<br/><br/>Mr Gadkari said, the NDA government has decided to increase the National Highways network to two lakh kilometre from 96,000 kilometre.<br/><br/>Union Human Resources Development Minister Smriti Irani has said the NDA government's efforts have accelerated skill education in the country.<br/><br/>She said the present regime has taken a series of measure in education sector.<br/><br/>The Minister said the Centre has made a provision that a institute which wants to impart skill education apart from regular courses can do so by informing to the UGC. <br/><br/>Minister of Development of North Eastern Region, Dr. Jitendra Singh said the northeast region will become a startup hub soon.<br/><br/>He said the 'Start Up India', Stand Up India scheme has helped youth to start their own enterprises.<br/><br/>Minister of Sate for Civil Aviation Dr. Mahesh Sharma said there are 30 crore middle class families in India and many of them never dreamt of flying.<br/><br/>He said the NDA regime has taken up the task of introducing affordable air travel to the masses.<br/><br/>Communication and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said, the Digital India scheme is for poor population of the country and Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mission is to bring governance to the palms of people. <br/><br/>Mr. Prasad said, the NDA Government will open BPOs and Call Centers in rural areas.<br/><br/>Science and Technology Minister Dr Harshvardhan said, the government has reduced the paper work by implementing digital technology in the field of research.<br/><br/>Skill Development Minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, Mr Modi led government has prepared a framework for providing skill training to the people as per requirement.<br/><br/>He said, the present government wants to increase the income of the poor people by imparting skill training to them.<br/><br/>The event, spread over nearly six hours, was attended by Union Ministers, smattering of Bollywood actors, including megastar Amitabh Bachchan. <br/><br/>Mr Bachchan talked about one of the government's flagship programmes 'Beti Bachao Beti Padhao'.
