The National Democratic Alliance will bring a motion under the voting provisions against the government's decision to allow FDI in Retail during the ensuing winter session of parliament. Briefing media persons after a meeting of the NDA leaders in New Delhi, senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said the proposal was violation of the assurance given to parliament by the government last year that FDI in Retail will be allowed only after reaching political consensus on the issue. He appealed all those political parties which had supported the Bharat Bandh on FDI issue to support the Opposition motion.
Alleging that the UPA government has failed on all fronts, Mr. Prasad said that the BJP will consult other parties to explore possibility of a no-confidence motion.
Criticising senior party leader Yashwant Sinha for his reported remarks against BJP President Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Prasad said it is not appropriate for him to make public statement. Appealing Mr. Sinha to reconsider his remarks, Mr. Prasad said all the party forum are available to him to raise the issue.
