The national commission for Women and Human Rights has voiced its serious concern over the decline in ratio of girls to boys. It has suggested making laws more stringent to check pre-natal sex selection and female foeticide in the country.Addressing a conference on the issue Chairperson of National Commission for Women Girija Vyas said that under the Act, punishment is very less and there is no provision for police intervention or third party intervention. The issue was highlighted in the backdrop of the Practice of female foeticide still continuing in many states.
