The National Commission for Women, NCW's Chairperson Mamata Sharma has recommended a government job for the victim of the Guwahati molestation case, along with proper counseling and rehabilitation. Talking to newsmen after meeting Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in Guwahati, Mrs. Sharma also asked for better police patrolling with the presence of women personnel.While lauding media’s role in arresting the culprits, she said, media must be sensitive in reporting such crimes and must not twist the facts. The Commission also suggested to the state government to instruct the police to act on any complaint of crime, particularly against women, without going into jurisdiction territory and setting up a 24-hour women helpline and women cell in every police station. Mrs. Sharma also met senior government officials and the victim of the molestation case before returning to Delhi.
