NCW visits Haryana's Larhsoli village after reports of women gangrape during Jat stir

In Haryana, a team of National Woman Commission comprising its member Rekha Sharma and advisor Praveen has visited the Larhsoli village near Murthal in Sonipat district to know the truth regarding news about gangrape with women during Jat agitation published in an English daily on Wednesday. <br/><br/>The team quizzed some people including women and personally visited the fields where reportedly the women were raped. The team also met the district administration to know the fact. NWC member Rekha Sharma told AIR that they have not found any clue supporting incident of rape and no one has come forward with such complaint during their visit. She said, this is a serious matter and inquiry will continue to reveal the truth.<br/><br/>Meanwhile Col B K Panda entrusted with job of securing Panipat and Major H S Cheema have denied the reports of women being violated or raped by the agitators. Yesterday Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken cognizance of the newspaper report.<br/><br/>Justice N K Singhi has written to the acting Chief Justice in this regard for appropriate proceedings. Yesterday Haryana DGP Y P Singhal had termed the news report false on the basis of report of a committee formed by state government comprising Principal Secretary cum Financial Commissioner and Inspector General of Police.
