A two member team of National Commission for Women reached Guwahati today to investigate the molestation of a teenager in Guwahati on Monday. Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has ordered an inquiry into the incident. Additional Chief Secretary of Assam Mrs. Amily Chowdhary will inquire into the incident and submit a report within 15 days.

Eleven persons involved in the incident have been identified and four of them have been arrested while others are still absconding. The Chief Minister also ordered disciplinary action against police officials found guilty of negligence of duty. Official sources said that the administration is also planning to take action against bars which are violating government guidelines.

The Centre is also in touch with the Assam Government over the incident. The Home Minister P. Chidambaram said that he would get in touch with the Assam Chief Minister and find out what action has been taken in the case. Strongly condemning the incident, he said no body should take such incidents lightly.
