NCW in collaboration with Social Welfare Department of J&K holds first ever Mahila Jan Sunwai Programme in Jammu

<span style="color: #222222;">In Jammu and Kashmir, the National Commission for Women (NCW) in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department of the Union Territory today held the first ever Mahila Jan Sunwai Programme in Jammu. AIR Correspondent reports that the Jan Sunwai was held under the chairmanship of NCW Chairperson Rekha Sharma. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">During the programme, complainants of 40 cases related to women from all sections of the society were present and the Chairperson disposed of seven cases on the spot among 20 cases taken up during the programme. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on the occasion, Ms Sharma said that these initiatives facilitate effective disposal of complaints received by NCW and also help in collecting first hand information about the problems being faced by the women in various parts of the country.   Pertinently, this initiative has been launched with an aim to contribute for women empowerment and bringing gender sensitivity especially on reaching out to women who have been victims of domestic violence. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Chairperson is on a week-long visit to J&K and her maiden visit to the Union Territory aims at inquiring about issues faced by women especially regarding domestic and family violence.</span><br />
