NCW forms committee to inquire alleged suicide of Dana Sangma

The National Commission for Women has set up a four-member committee to conduct an inquiry into the alleged suicide of Amity University student Dana Sangma. Dana, a first year MBA student and niece of Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma, committed suicide in her hostel room on last Tuesday after she was allegedly humiliated by an invigilator who claimed to have caught her cheating in the exams.

A member of the commission said once these facts are ascertained, the Commission will ensure strict action taken against the administration.

The inquiry team, headed by NCW member Wansuk Syem, is expected to meet police officers and other officials concerned to find out the circumstances that led to Dana's death.
