NCW chairperson Mamata Sharma today called for setting up fast track courts for trial of cases pertaining to excesses against women. She was addressing Women's Peace Conference, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Peace Foundation in Srinagar today. Speaking in the conference, she enumerated various initiatives taken by the Commission to generate awareness among women about the policies and programmes of the government for their socio-economic empowerment.

Earlier, Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra in his inaugural address emphasized on importance of ensuring education for girl child.
