NCST visits Chhattisgarh to probe deaths of 29 Pando tribals

A team of National Commission for Scheduled Tribes is on a two day visit to Chhattisgarh to investigate deaths of large number of people belonging to a primitive tribe. Nearly 29 deaths of people belonging to 'Pando' tribe, have been reported in two months' duration due to illnesses in Surajpur district in North Chhattisgarh.<br/><br/>Most of the deaths were reported from villages of Odgi block. Commission has taken suo-moto cognizance into the matter. The four member fact finding team of Commission visited the affected villages and met the local people. Members of team also held a meeting with district authorities to review the situation.
