NCST urges the Odisha govt to upgrade 'Ashram Schools' as model ones

The National Commission for Scheduled Tribes (NCST) today urged the Odisha government to upgrade 'Ashram Schools' as model ones in each block. NCST Chairman Rameshwar Oran said after the discussion with a state government team, said that such model schools may be a reference point as well for other states to follow. <br/><br/>He urged the state government to emphasise on quality education and proper health care in residential tribal schools. The NCST delegation had a meeting in Bhubaneswar after completing a three day visit of Odisha, from September 2 to September 5.<br/><br/>Some of the points in the discussion were related to quality of education in tribal schools, health care of the inmates, training to teachers for qualitative teaching, regular visit of the officers to tribal schools. Shyam Agarwal, Secretary of NCST appreciated the effort of the state government for establishing 11 to 15 'Ashrama Schools' and hostels in many blocks.
