The new Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Castes Dr P.L. Punia has criticised the alleged diversion of Special Component Fund, SCF meant for the scheduled castes for Commonwealth Games and demanded that it should be returned back. Supporting the reservation of jobs for the SCs by private sector, Dr. Punia said that there is a need to spread awareness about their rights.Addressing media after taking the charge in New Delhi on Friday, Dr. Punia said that his priority will be to ensure that interests of the Dalits and weaker sections of society are protected. In reply to a question, he said stringent laws are required to check the crimes like honour killing.
