NCPCR welcomes SC judgement on RTE Act

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, NCPCR, has welcomed the Supreme Court judgement upholding the constitutional validity of the Right to Education Act. The Act mandates 25 per cent free seats to the poor in government and private unaided schools uniformly across the country. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, the Chairperson of the NCPCR, Shanta Sinha said the judgement will help the poor children as there will be a greater sharing of resources and cultural values for them. Terming the judgement as historic one, she said it will bridge the disparities between poor and other children.
