NCPCR tells Manipur to review status of HIV/ AIDS infected children

National Commission for Child Rights (NCPCR) Chairperson Professor Shantha Sinha said on Wednesday that Manipur government must come up with a clear-cut plan to take proper care of the children infected by HIV/AIDS in the state. Heading a Jury Panel for the Public Hearing on Children Affected by HIV/AIDS and Drug Abuse at Imphal, Prof. Sinha said that state government must review the status of HIV/ AIDS infected children and their families. She further said that government should act proactively to address the grievances of these children in a more simplified way.About ten children infected by HIV/AIDS from Imphal West and Thoubal districts raised their grievances to the Jury Panel today. After hearing the complaints, the panel advised the concerned authorities of state Social Welfare and Education Departments, Manipur State AIDS Control Society and the district authorities to address the grievances at the earliest possible.
