NCP MLA Ramesh Kadam arrested by CID over alleged irregularities

The Sessions Court in Mumbai on Monday remanded police custody to Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Ramesh Kadam till 25th of this month. He was arrested from Pune by the CID on Monday. He is accused of irregularities worth over Rs 150 crore in the Maharashtra government-run Annabhau Sathe Development Corporation (ASDC). Kadam was brought in Mumbai as the case has been registered in the city. <br/><br/>The alleged scam had taken place when Kadam, who represents Mohol constituency in Solapur district, was the chairman of the ASDC. According to CID, Kadam had allegedly transferred over Rs 150 crore funds to the organisations headed by him. The money was meant for the welfare of backward communities for whom the corporation was set up. Apart from Kadam, three other people have been arrested in this connection. A case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption Act had been filed at Dahisar police station against several persons, including the legislator, in this connection on July 19. CID officials said that the investigations are underway and efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.<br/><br/> <br/><br/> <br/><br/>
