Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has distanced itself from party MP Majeed Memon's remarks questioning the execution of Mumbai blast convict Yakub Memon. Talking to reporters outside Parliament today, party General Secretary D P Tripathi said all the legal procedures were followed in the case and NCP respects the Supreme Court verdict. He said 257 people were killed and hundreds injured in serial blasts. Mr. Tripathi said he is personally against the capital punishment but till it is in the law, the court will pronounce such punishment. Majeed Memon had said that there was undue haste in the execution of Mumbai blast convict.
