In Assam, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed charge sheets in three of the total nine cases in the multi-crore rupees North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council corruption scam.The investigating agency has named 16 people, including two former Chief Executive Members of the Council in the charge sheets.CBI’s zonal head H. Nongpluh, D.I.G, said the three cases relating to the public works department, public health engineering and agriculture departments have been framed and charge sheets have been submitted yesterday in the court of Special CBI Judge in Guwahati.The total financial misappropriation in the three cases is approximately three crore eighty seven lakh rupees during the financial year 2008-2009.Assam government had referred nine cases of alleged corruption in the Council to the CBI after they came to light in 2009. Five were referred in 2010, and four in 2011.The total alleged financial misappropriation in the nine cases is to the tune of 52 crore rupees.
