A Madurai court on Monday issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Union Chemicals Minister MK Alagiri's son Durai Dayanidhi in connection with the granite scam case.
Durai, who is also the grandson of DMK supremo M Karunanidhi, has been evading arrest for the last two months.
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court had already refused him anticipatory bail. The district police have registered a case of illegal quarrying and theft under the Mines and Minerals Act.
A look out circular for him at all airports in a bid to prevent him from fleeing abroad had also been issued by the police.
Durai's grandfather Mr Karunanidhi said he does not know why Durai is hiding.
Mr Karunanidhi said the government and the judiciary could proceed legally. He said the state government is indiscriminately filing cases against DMK cadre.
