Naxals have killed a MNREGA activist Niyamat Ali in Latehar in Jharkhand. Mr. Ali was convener of Manika block in Latehar district for MNREGA and was associated with a group who were exposing corruption in MNERGA. The naxals also attacked house of another MNERGA activist and an associate of Mr. Ali, Bhukhan Singh, and beaten his wife and son, and the two are missing after that. Because of fear of naxals, none came to help the victims when naxals were beating them with lathi yesterday. It may be recalled that deceased Niyamat Ali and Bhukhan Singh had exposed corruption on February 21 this year, in the MNERGA projects in Rankikala village of Manika block in Latehar district of Jharkhand. The Naxals had earlier warned them against exposing corruption in MNREGA.
