An armed group of Naxalites shot dead a former Dalam Commander in the Naxal-affected Gadchiroli district of Maharashtra.According to the information received from Police sources, the incident took place in Aarewada village of Bhamragarh taluka in the district yesterday when the former Dalam Commander Pawan Kumar Bhalawi was proceeding towards his farm. The Naxalites pumped five bullets killing him on the spot, they said.Bhalawi worked as the Commander of Salekasa Dalam in Bhandara district for some time and was also active in Gondia and Gadchiroli district before he was arrested along with wife and active member Girija by Bhandara police in 1992. Later, his wife was elected to Bhamragad Panchayat Samiti and was serving as Chairperson of the Panchayat Samiti in Gadchiroli district.
