The convoy of the state Congress leaders on Wednesday came under attack from the naxalites in Chhattsigarh. At least two persons have been killed and four have been injured in the attack. The State Congress President Nand Kumar Patel who was leading the convoy however apprehended that the number of persons killed in the incident might have been around 7 to 8. The incident took place near Udanti under the Gariabandh police station area when the naxalites triggered a landmine blast at one of the vehicles of the convoy this evening. The naxalites are also said to have resorted to firing soon after the blast. The vehicle was completely smashed in the blast. However the state Congress President Mr. Patel, the former state Congress President Mr. Dhanendra Sahoo and other senior party leaders have escaped unhurt. They were returning form Debvog after attending a farmer’s rally. Additional police reinforcements have been rushed to the spot. Details are still awaited.
