Nawaz Sharif to arrive in New Delhi tomorrow to attend Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi's swearing-in ceremony

The Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will arrive in New Delhi tomorrow to attend the swearing in ceremony of the Prime Minister designate Narendra Modi and his Council of Ministers.

He would be accompanied by his Advisor on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Sartaj Aziz, Special Assistant Tariq Fatemi and Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry among others.

The announcement by the Prime Minister's Office yesterday ended the suspense over Sharif's visit that was being opposed by the hardliners in the establishment in Islamabad. Mr. Nawaz Sharif will also call on President Pranab Mukherjee and will hold a bilateral meeting with Narendra Modi on Tuesday morning.

Six SAARC countries Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bhutan, Nepal, Maldives and Bangladesh have already confirmed their participation. Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay is arriving in New Delhi today for a four day visit to attend the swearing-in-ceremony. He will meet Mr. Modi on Tuesday and will also meet other Indian leaders.

President Pranab Mukherjee will host a banquet for about 100 guests including the visiting dignitaries and the new Council of Ministers tomorrow evening.
