Navy, Coast Guard ships rushed to the help of merchant vessel

Dewatering by pumps from INS Trikand and CGS Amal continuing operation to keep the merchant ship MV Infinity One safe. At present, the ship continues to list and it's proceeding to Karwar with INS Trikand escorting, at slow speed. Vessel is expected to enter harbor later in the day. <br/><br/>The Navy and Coast Guard ships have been rushed to the assistance after receiving a distress call from the ship when it was 20 nautical miles off Goa coast last evening.<br/><br/>The ship, sailing from Kandla port in Gujarat to Karwar in Karnataka with 14 Indian crew on board, reported water ingress and continuous listing to starboard (right hand) side. Indian naval ship Trikand was in the vicinity and responded immediately by sending team of 4 personnel including 2 officers. Coast Guard Ship Amal and tug too has been dispatched for assistance while INS Kondul has been placed on standby. <br/><br/>As per Defence APRO, Mumbai, Narendrakumar Vispute, MV Infinity One was thereafter anchored and additional pumps being readied for immediate delivery.

The Navy and Coast Guard ships rushed to rescue the merchant ship 'MV Infinity One' after receiving distress calls from the ship of water ingress. It was 20 nautical miles off the Goa Coast. Defence Assistant PRO, Mumbai, Narendrakumar Vispute, said the ship has been anchored and additional pumps being readied for immediate delivery. <br/><br/>The ship, sailing from Kandla port in Gujarat to Karwar in Karnataka with 14 Indian crew on board, reported water ingress and continuous listing to right hand side.
