Navy, Coast Guard capture 28 pirates off Lakshadweep coast

In joint operation by the Navy and Coast Guard, a fresh band of 28 pirates have been captured off Lakshadweep coast. The Marin time forces also seized the pirate controlled Thai fishing trawller. Trawleer's original crew of 24 Thai and Myanmarese nations was also rescued. The pirates and the crew have been taken to Mumbai to be handed over to the police for initiating legal action. AIR correspondent reports after Navies of various countries embarked on joint operations in the piracy ridden waters of the Gulf of Eden, the Somali pirates have moved into the Indian Ocean. The busy shipping lanes close to Lakshaweep have become their favourite hunting ground.
