<span style="color: #222222;">Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Sunil Lanba today inducted the first state-of-the-art Deep Submergence Rescue Vessel (DSRV) submarine rescue system into the Indian Navy today. With the induction of the DSRV, it has further enhanced the Indian Navy's capability to undertake submarine rescue operations in the high seas. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">Speaking on the occasion, Admiral Lanba said with the induction of the DSRV, India has joined select league of Navies of the world who has such assets. He said the DSRV is air transportable and can be loaded in an aircraft and can be taken anywhere in the world. He further said the need to have such a system was felt in early 1980s. </span><br />'' <span style="color: #222222;"><br />''He also said that DSRV can rescue upto 14 people at a time and can dive at a depth of over 650 meters. Admiral Lanba said the second DSRV will be inducted into the Indian Navy in April 2019 and it will be based in Vishakhapatnam. </span><br />'' <br />'' <span style="color: #222222;">The Navy had signed the 2000 crore rupees contract in March 2016 to procure the DSRVs from the UK-based Messrs James Fisher Defence. Lanba said once the DSRVs are inducted the endeavour of the Navy will be to train the crew to provide submarine rescue services in the Indian Ocean region and beyond.</span><br />
