Navratri dance festival begins tonight in Gujarat

Nine days long festival of dance on Navratri is beginning from tonight in Gujarat. The festival, traditionally known for its unique dance and Garaba music which reflect the worshiping of goddess, Ma Amba. Various Garaba groups have organised Dandiya and Garaba events throughout the Navratri in the cities like Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, and Rajkot etc. Street Garaba- also known as traditional or ancient Garaba have also been organised in every square and street of villages and towns in the state. Youngsters are very enthusiastic to play Garabas and Dandiya during navratri festival.Our Ahmedabad Correspondent reports that the State Government has not organised the Vibrant Gujarat Navratri Mahotsav due to model code of conduct in view of the State Assembly elections to be held in December 2012.
