Terming the ignoring of Member of Parliament in his own constituency a national issue, MP, Mr. Navjot Singh Sidhu has moved a privilege motion in the Parliament against the Amritsar Deputy Commissioner, Mr. K.S. Pannu for not inviting him to events happening in Amritsar.

The Lok Sabha Speaker, Mrs. Meira Kumar has already admitted the motion. Speaking to Our Jalandhar Correspondent Rajesh Bali during his visit to the city yesterday, Mr. Sidhu said that there is all possibility that the Speaker will invite him to speak on the issue after getting all the details from the Amritsar District Administration.

Mr. Sidhu said that he would put forth how the elected representatives are shoddily treated across the country. He said that in his case, he has moved the motion only after having been ignored on seven different occasions, the latest being during the visit of Canadian Premier Mr. Stephen Harper to the holy city.

The MP said that by resorting to such cheap tactics, the powers that be are not unfairly targeting him but indirectly insulting the people who have elected him. He vowed that he would take the case to its logical conclusion as it is not an individual’s case but a national issue.

He said that the findings of privilege motion would not be restricted to Punjab but would imply all over the country.
