Navjot Singh Sidhu announces formation of forum 'Awaz-e-Punjab'

Former BJP leader and MP, Navjot Singh Sidhu, has announced the formation of a forum Awaz-e-Punjab. Addressing a press conference at Chandigarh yesterday, he said it is a front of well meaning people to guard the interests of Punjab, Punjabiat and Punjabis. Mr. Sidhu said his decision to resign from Rajya Sabha had nothing to do with AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal. He said he met Mr. Kejriwal for the sake of Punjab. But the Delhi Chief Minister asked him not to contest the Punjab polls and only campaign for AAP and in lieu of that his wife was promised a ministerial berth in case AAP formed a government in the state. He said he left Rajya Sabha because BJP wanted him to campaign for Shiromani Akali Dal. <br/><br/>He accused the Shiromani Akali Dal and Congress of playing a friendly match and said both the parties are not looking after the interests of Punjab. Mr. Sidhu said that he would declare his next move in 15-20 days as Awaz-e Punjab is only a forum yet and not a political party.
