Naveen Patnaik to reshuffle his cabinet today

In Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will reshuffle his Cabinet today. The swearing-in-ceremony of the new Ministers is scheduled to be held at the Raj Bhawan on Tuesday afternoon. The Odisha Chief Minister is likely to induct five new faces into his Cabinet which are lying vacant. Before going for the reshuffle, Mr. Patnaik had called for resignation of three of his Cabinet colleagues. He had asked Agriculture Minister, Dr Damodar Rout, Scheduled Castes, Scedhuled Tribes & Minorities Welfare Minister, Bijay Ranjan Singh Bariah and Sports & Youth Affairs Minister, Praveen Chandra Bhanja Deo to submit their resignation papers last everning. All the three Ministers have sent their papers to the Chief Minister. However, these three Ministers have not been told the reasons for being asked to resign. Meanwhile, Deputy Speaker in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, Lal Behari Himirika has also tendered his resignation. He is likely to be inducted in the Naveen Patnaik Cabinet. This will be the first reshuffle of the 25-month-old Biju Janata Dal Government after Naveen Patnaik returned to power for the third consecutive term.
