Navapur in Maharashtra's Nandurbar district is the latest to report Bird flu cases. It was fifteen years back when bird flu had hit Navapur. AIR correspondent reports that there are 10 lakh chickens in 27 poultry farms spread across one square kilometer area. However, the positive reports of Bird flu have been reported from four poultry farms prompting the administration to undertake culling of birds.<br />''  <br />''Entire one kilometre area has been declared as an infected zone from the epicentre from where positive samples of bird flu are found in Navapur. Besides, around 10 kilometer area has been declared as a surveillance zone to prevent the rapid spread of infection and also to overcome the loss it may incur to the poultry business. One hundred teams of state animal husbandry department have reached Navapur to engage into culling of birds. Nandurbar district collector, Dr. Rajendra Bharud, said around 38 thousand chickens were culled yesterday. He said, 34 thousand birds died due to the virus in the last fifteen days.<br />'' <br />''<span style="color: #222222;">However, he said out of the 34 thousand, 10-15 thousand birds died in the last three days. In the first phase, about one lakh fifty thousand chicken will be culled from the four infected poultry farms. He said, samples from the remaining 23 poultry farms have also been sent to Bhopal-based laboratory for testing.</span><br />
