Union Environment Minister Jayanthi Natrajan has reached Kaziranga National Park to take stock of the present situation. Accompanied by Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi ,Ms Natrajan met senior forest officials of both Centre and state government. Both the leaders have held discussion on the post-flood situation of the park, rescue and relief measures taken by forest department and recent incidents of rhino poaching.Assam government has already intensified security measures in and around Kaziranga National park .100 members team of elite Assam Forest Protection Force have been deployed to prevent poaching and smuggling of animals. The visit of Ms.Natrajan is likely to boost up the confidence of forest personnel Poachers have killed 11 rhinos this year while 29 were drowned in floods. More than five hundred inhabitants of the park were also perished during flood. A team of Wildlife Crime Control Bureau has also visited the park recently to find out ways to prevent poaching.Meanwhile, four rhino poachers were arrested today at Baalipukhuri area in Biswanath Chariali of Sonitpur district. State Law and Order IGP L R Bishnoi said that .acting on a tip off, a joint team of army and police arrested them. Two of them are from Manipur .Arms and ammunitions are also recovered for them.

Natrajan reaches Kaziranga National Park to take stock of situation
