In Afghanistan, NATO and International Security Assistance Force have supported upcoming peace consultative jirga aimed finalising a programme to reconcile with militant groups. Addressing a joint press conference in Kabul today, NATO civilian representative Mark Shedwill said that Jirga will allow Afghans from all over the country to have a say in the future of the nation. He said bringing insurgents into mainstream requires transparent and inclusive process which the meeting will provide. The US top commander in Afghanistan Gen. Mc Chrystal said the peace process is to bring Afghans in as many numbers as possible under the Afghanistan constitution. He asserted that this is not contrary to military mission as it is aimed at not allowing insurgents to dictate the reconciliation process. Hundreds of tribal leaders and officials from all over Afghanistan are gathering in capital Kabul for a three-day meeting beginning on Wednesday.
