In Afghanistan , at lease 29 militants were killed in operations aimed at protecting supply routes through northern Afghanistan including two commanders, over four days. <br/><br/>Interior Ministry said today that Afghan and international forces launched an offensive last week in the northern province of Baghlan to push the Taliban out of a number of districts. <br/><br/>Militants had stepped up attacks in the formerly calm province as part of efforts to disrupt a key northern overland supply route for international forces. <br/><br/>The ministry said NATO air strikes bombarded militant positions, killing 29 and wounding 52. At least three Afghan police and four German soldiers were also killed in the fighting. <br/><br/><br/>Elsewhere, a foreign solider was killed by a roadside bomb in southern Afghanistan . <br/><br/>Meanwhile, more than 100 people including dozens of civilians were killed in violence related to the ongoing war against the Taliban in the past week. <br/><br/>Interior ministry spokesman Zemarai Bashary said it registered about 144 militancy-related incidents, mostly roadside bombs and militant ambushes during the week ending today.
