NATO commander apologies over Afghan civilian deaths

The commander of NATO forces in Afghanistan, Gen. David Petraeus has issued a personal apology for the killing of nine young boys in Kunar Province on Tuesday. NATO says, there was a mistake in relaying information about the position of presumed militants. The nine Afghan boys who died were collecting firewood in the east of the country when helicopter grunships appeared above and opened fire on them. One boy survived reportedly by hiding under tree branches brought down on top of him by rocket fire.
