Nat'l Games: Services win Gold each in individual & team Triathlon events; Pooja Chauroshi wins Gold in Women's Triathlon

In the ongoing 35th National Games at Tiruvananthapuram, athletics events started today and hosts Karela were in for an early shock . Their star long jumper Ranjit Maheshwari could not make it to the finals due to a faulty start. Meanwhile Services won both the individual and team gold in Men's triathlon. Meena Chandra of the services won the gold in individual category and later teaming up Dilip and Gurudutt won the team gold also. In the Women's triathlon Pooja Chourushi of Gujrat won the individual gold. Later the Gujarat team consisting of Pooja, Pallavi and Pragya won the Team Gold as well. In Wushu event Saajan Lama of the Services won the gold in Men's section. L.S. Chaanu of Manipur won the gold in women section.In Canoing doubles events, Madhya Pradesh won the Gold, Kerala the Silver and Manipur took the Bronze in one thousand meters today. In Men's one thousand meters singles canoing Services won the Gold, Silver went to Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir won the Copper. Andaman and Nicobar won the women's one thousand meters Doubles Kayaking event. Madhya Pradesh came second and Kerala third. Services continue to occupy the first position in the medals tally with, 78 medals including 48 gold. Maharashtra are second with 91 medals including 27 gold . Haryana are third, winning 52 medals till now which include 27 gold. Hosts Kerala are at the fourth spot with 56 medals including 16 gold. Former Commonwealth and Asian Games medallist Deepika Kumari steered Jhakhand to a team gold medals in the recurve archery events but stunningly missed out on an individual podium finish even as the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) continued to stay on course for a hat-trick of overall titles on the eighth day of competitions in the 35th National Games today.
