Banking services of public sector banks are affected due to two-day nationwide strike by employees. Public sector banks in the national capital have joined the strike.The striking employees are opposing banking sector reforms and outsourcing of non-core activities. AIR correspondent reports banking operations like deposit, withdrawal and clearing are affected. However private sector banks including foreign ones and ATMs of all banks are reported to be functioning normally.Nearly ten lakh employees are taking part in the strike spearheaded by the United Forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella organisation of nine unions of PSU banks. The bank unions have been demanding pension revision, housing loan revision, 5-day working week. They are also protesting the alleged unilateral implementation of the Khandelwal committee report on human resource management in the PSU banks.
Banking services have been affected in Tamil Nadu and Bihar due to the strike.Reports of the strike have also come from other parts of the country.
