National Voters Day: Programme organised in election-bound Tripura, election awareness calendar also released

In the election-bound Tripura, National Voters Day was observed today across the State. The main programme was organised at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan at Agartala. Based on the theme 'Nothing like Voting, I Vote for Sure', the programme was inaugurated by Chief Secretary J. K. Sinha.<br />''<br />''In the programme, EPIC cards were distributed to the newly enrolled first-time voters. Also, an election awareness calendar was released in the programme.<br />''<br />''On the occasion, Chief Secretary J.K Sinha said, every eligible voter's essential duty is to participate in democracy by establishing their right to franchise. Calling for free, fair and peaceful elections, he said, the State will earn a good name in future when the election is conducted in a peaceful manner.<br />''<br />''Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte said when voters are aware of their rights, democracy is strengthened. He said, the Election Commission of India aims for inclusive participation of the voters in any election. There is a different reputation for India's voting process in the world.<br />''<br />''Pointing to the current election process in the State, which will go for election on 16th February, Mr Gitte said elaborative arrangements are put in place for convenient facilities for the voters. He said, voters, can easily find information about various aspects of the eligible candidates through the 'Know Your Candidate' App. Mr Gitte further added that in the state, this time, 50 to 55 thousand people have been appointed on election duty. Each of them will have to take a vital role to ensure a peaceful election.<br />
