A state-level function to mark the first-ever National Voters' Day was held at Vanapa Hall in Aizawl, Mizoram on Tuesday. The Election Commission of India has decided to observe the National Voters' Day every year on 25th January, which is its foundation day also.The Governor of Mizoram was the Chief Guest at the function. In his address to the gathering on the occasion, he called it a historic day and mentioned that the aim of this day should be to achieve the target of 100 per cent voting. He also called upon the youth of the country to contribute in making the present democratic set up more vibrant.On the occasion, the Governor distributed appreciation certificates to the electoral Officers of various districts for achieving hundred per cent registration of youth for EPIC in their respective regions. A number of events were organised in the run-up to the observance of the first-ever National Voters' Day in the state.
