National Voters Day celebrates today in Puducherry

<span style="color: #222222;">Elections are reaffirming the power of the people and deepening democracy. Chief Secretary Rajeev Verma said this while delivering a special address at the National Voters Day celebration today in Puducherry. He said much effort is taken to conduct fair and participative elections.  The Chief Secretary Every eligible citizen should get enrolled in the electoral roll and cast their vote to uphold the spirit of democracy. He informed that the mobile applications introduced by the Election Commission of India are user-friendly. A voter can use such apps to know the booth and even also to make complaints, he added. Chief Electoral Officer PJawahar said in his address that the network of Electoral Literacy Clubs, Chunav Pathshalas and Voter Awareness Forums were also involved in making students and the public aware of the importance of voting. He further said that there was a possibility of 90 percent polling in the forthcoming General elections compared to 81 percent polling in the 2019 General Elections.<br />''<br />''On the occasion, Chief Secretary Verma released a book " Elections in India: A Workbook for Informed and Engaged Voters'.  He also distributed EPIC cards to students who have registered after completing 18 years.  Later, the Chief Secretary flagged off the Mobile Voting Demonstration van.<br />''<br />''Terracotta Artist and Padma Sri Awardee V.K. Munusamy and Ms. Ashika were nominated as Election ICON and Youth ICON.  An exhibition of Terracotta artworks by the students, focussing on the importance of voting, was also put up on the sideline of the venue. </span><br />
