The 12th National Voters' Day was observed today at State Central Library, Shillong with the theme "Making Elections Inclusive, Accessible and Participative" organized by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Meghalaya.<br />''<br />''As part of the observation, a walkathon- "Walk for Democracy" was held earlier in the morning escorted by cyclists from the Meghalaya Cyclist Association. During the official function, a specially curated photo exhibition "Democracy@50" showcasing Meghalaya elections at the time of Statehood was also inaugurated.<br />''<br />''Chief Secretary R V Suchiang who graced as the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of the day and reminded every citizen of their rights as voters. She expressed optimism that with the advent of technology and online engagement, youths and urban voters will participate in greater numbers, and in doing so it will reach a point where no voter is left behind, which is one of the objectives of the ECI. She also urged the election machinery in the State to collectively work towards a COVID safe election and also in following COVID appropriate behaviour.<br />''<br />''As part of the programme, EPICs were also distributed to newly enrolled voters.
