National Unity Day is being celebrated in Goa today to mark Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's birth anniversary. <br/><br/>In a programme organised by the Directorate of Field Publicity in the Verla-Kanka village panchayat in North Goa, the celebrations began early morning with a Run for Unity, which saw large participation from children. <br/><br/>Sensitisation about Sardar Patel's contribution to unifying the nation is being highlighted through speeches by academicians, film shows, community meetings, etc. <br/><br/>A rangoli competition was also organised on the theme of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas to encourage and involve schoolchildren from the state's hinterland.
